Functions - NDD Print Client Canon

The NDD Print Client Canon offers several features that make the user's daily tasks easier. These include:

  • Secure Release

When the “Secure Release” feature is enabled, documents will only be printed after the user has explicitly authorized them in the NDD Print Client.

  • Environmental Impact

Displays monthly statistics on the environmental impact of the equipment in question.

Below are the instructions for the configuration of each feature of the NDD Print Client Canon:

Before you begin

  • Perform the installation of the ECT. After installation, to enable any of the functions mentioned above, simply set the switch to the Enable Releaser option to display the desired options.

Configure Authentication

Authentication Methods

User and password

With this authentication method, the user must enter their domain credentials.

PIN and/or Secure PIN

With this authentication method, the user must enter their PIN and/or PIN and Secure PIN, as configured in the NDD Print Portal 360.

Physical identifier

With this authentication method, the user must hold their card up to the reader connected to the printer. Self-registration can be enabled so that users can complete the process on the equipment's panel.

Set Up Secure Release

Before you begin

When you enable the “secure release” feature, documents will only be printed after the user has explicitly authorized them in the NDD Print Client Canon.

  1. Open NDD Print ECT (Embedded Configuration Tool)

  2. Select the manufacturer Canon

  3. Select the desired platform from ALP and MEAP

  4. Select the Configure option

  5. In the Single Printer section, enter the IP address or hostname of the equipment you want to configure

  6. In the Enabled Modules section, under NDD Print Client, select this option to make a second area called Enable Releaser visible, allowing you to enable the desired functions.

  7. Access the Enabled Modules section and enable the NDD Print Client. The Enable Releaser area will then become visible, allowing you to enable the necessary features.

  8. In the Local server section, fill in the fields:

    1. SNMP Community: The default value is public, but it can be changed according to the configuration set on the printer.

    2. NDD Print Host: Server address (IP address or hostname) where the NDD Print Host component is installed

    3. NDD Print Releaser: Server address (IP address or hostname) where the NDD Print Releaser component is installed

  9. Click Send to printers

Environmental Impact Information

Displays monthly statistics on environmental impact.

  1. Open NDD Print ECT (Embedded Configuration Tool)

  2. Select the manufacturer Canon

  3. Select the desired platform from ALP and MEAP

  4. Select the Configure option

  5. In the Single Printer section, enter the IP address or hostname of the equipment you want to configure

  6. In the NDD Print Client section, select Enable Releaser to display the options, and then select Environmental Impact

  7. In the Local server section, fill in the fields:

    1. NDD Print Host: Server address (IP address or hostname) where the NDD Print Host component is installed

    2. NDD Print Releaser: Server address (IP address or hostname) where the NDD Print Releaser component is installed

  8. Click Send to printers

All of the features mentioned above can be sent in bulk to multiple printers. To do this, click Import file to import a CSV file containing the printer addresses for bulk configuration.
