Types of policies
When policy-based control is enabled, the authenticated user’s tasks (Release Documents, Copy, and Scan) will be subject to one or more filters set by the administrator, which may include:
Restriction Policies: Depending on the configuration, they can affect the following tasks:
-
Printing: After initiating the print job, the authenticated user will be notified of the reason why the document could not be printed. This restriction may also occur when attempting to print a delegated document, if the delegating user has restrictions;
-
Copying: When the authenticated user has restrictions on copying, they will be informed of the restriction (depending on the equipment model);
-
Scanning: When the authenticated user has restrictions on scanning, they will be informed of the restriction (depending on the equipment model).
Alert Policies: After initiating the print process, the authenticated user will be notified of the reason why the document has not yet been authorized for printing. In this case, the user can resolve the issue with the documents and authorize printing. This behavior also occurs when attempting to print a delegated document if the delegating user is subject to restrictions.
Conversion Settings: After starting the printing process, the logged-in user will be notified that the documents can be converted (single-sided and/or double-sided). Select whether you want to convert them and click the print icon to complete the process.
Policy Configuration
Policy management (restrictions, alerts, and conversions), as well as the configuration of groups, users, and blocking reasons, is handled exclusively through the NDD Print Portal 360. The NDD Print Client Pantum is responsible for enforcing these policies, performing information and blocking functions on the device.
