Activating the SMB 1.0 Protocol

Guide to Activating the SMB 1.0 Protocol

Some older printer models are only compatible with the SMB 1.0 protocol. Therefore, we recommend checking whether the feature is enabled, as it may be disabled in some versions of Windows Server. If the protocol is inactive, perform the following procedure:

  1. Open Program Manager: Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard to open the ‘Run’ command box. Type the command appwiz.cpl and press Enter.

  2. Access System Resources: In the window that opens (Programmes and Features), locate the side menu on the left and click on the link ‘Turn Windows features on or off’.

  3. Enable SMB 1.0 Support: In the list that appears, scroll down until you find the option ‘SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support’. Click the ‘+’ icon next to it to expand, check all the boxes inside, and click OK.

After completing these steps, Windows will usually ask you to restart your computer to apply the changes.
