Unknown user in accounting reports

Failure

While reviewing the portal 360 reports, we identified a copy log entry for “User 1” or “Unknown.”

Cause

The copy was made without authentication or without a valid association between the equipment and the user policy or the embedded service.

Solution

  1. Identify the equipment associated with the copy log entry for an unknown user.

  2. Confirm that authentication for the copy function is enabled on the equipment, either via a policy or an embedded service.

  3. Verify that the equipment is linked to the embedded service or the user control policy in the NDD Print Portal 360.

  4. Confirm the identification method: card, username and password, or PIN.

  5. Perform a test of an authenticated copy on the equipment.

  6. Wait for the data to synchronize in the NDD Print Portal 360 report.

  7. Verify that the new copy record shows the correct user in the report.

Additional Information

  • Copy records without a user indicate a lack of identification or authentication at the origin (on the equipment itself).

  • Do not manually assign the print job to a user without evidence of authentication or logs proving this association.
